Avoiding the ‘C’ word – SIIA Roundtable

September 10, 2013 by Peter Houston

SIIAMedia entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé recently said, “Content — don’t you hate it? It’s the new c-word. Once upon a time, content would have been shorthand for editorial. Now it’s just filler.”

I wrote about it on the Flipping Pages Blog and now I’ll be running roundtable at the SIIA Digital Content & Media Summit, Wednesday 25th September on the topic. The session will be an informal discussion on how can you stop your staff seeing digital content as meaningless chore and get them to embrace the opportunity to engage their audiences across multiple platforms?

Find out more about the roundtable and the summit here.

The theme for the morning is Managing Digital Content through Multiple Channels and I’ll be presenting “The Six-Step program for turning disgruntled editors into ‘content’ people”. It’s a look at how print editors can develop crossmedia workflows. This content-first approach centres on celebrating the work editors, past and present, do well and empowering them to focus on the digital content really matters. By enabling print + digital integration, content creators can be prepared to go from desktop to mobile and beyond.

March 15, 2013 by Peter Houston
